Ana Raquel Costa Brito is a PhD in Biomedicine by the University da Beira Interior. From October 2014 until April 2015 she was the holder of a Research Fellowship in the field of Immunology in the same Institution. Over that period she acquired experience in flow cytometry technique and in the isolation/establishment of primary cultures of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Later she was the recipient of a Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia Ph.D. studentship in the field of Basic Neurobiology at the Health Sciences Research Centre CICS-UBI) where she investigated the rat choroid plexus as a source of peptides with neurogenesis induction potential. During that period she acquired vast experience in several Molecular Biology techniques Nucleic acid/ Protein extraction, RT-PCR, Real-time quantitative PCR and Western blot), and in other laboratory techniques such as sterile cell culture, immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence techniques and microscopy. She is currently a Research Technician at the Polytechnic of Guarda IPG) in the health, well-being, and related healthcare technologies field.
