João Manuel Petrica, has been a teacher in higher education since 1986, and is now Full Professor. He obtained an aggregate degree in Sports Sciences and a PhD in Physical Education and Sport from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, and a Master's degree in Educational Sciences: Methodology of Physical Education at the Faculty of Human Motricity of the University of Lisbon. Was a researcher at LIBEC at the University of Minho, a researcher at CIDETS at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, Coordinator of the SHERU Research Unit at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, and is currently an integrated member and member of the Board of SPRINT and coordinator of the Management Unit of SPRINT - IPCB. He has published more than 17 books, 54 book chapters, 120 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 39 abstracts published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 110 abstracts of papers in scientifically refereed congresses, made 32 conferences, and presented 194 papers in international congresses. Has also supervised 5 PhD theses and 35 Master's theses.
