MARCO ALEXANDRE DA SILVA BATISTA
Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sports and Wellbeing at the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco.
Graduated in Physical Education from the Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute, Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the Santarém Polytechnic Institute, PhD in Education Sciences and Sports Sciences, both from the University of Extremadura Spain).From 2001 to 2015 he worked as a physical education teacher at various levels of education in schools under the supervision of the Portuguese Ministry of Education. Professor of higher education since 2006, having held teaching positions in bachelors or masters degrees at the Torres Novas Higher Education School, Leiria and Santarém Polytechnics Institutes, and is currently a full-time teacher at the Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute.Teaching duties in the field of sport focused on curricular units such as Psychophysiology, Motor Control and Learning, Motor Development, Psychomotricity, Sport Psychology and Exercise, Judo, Rugby, Adapted Sports and Well-Being and Healthy Lifestyles.In the 2022/2023 he served as deputy director of the Higher School of Education of the IPCB. He is currently a member of the Scientific Council and Vice-President of the Pedagogical Council of the same school. Between 2009 and 2013 he served as coordinator of the Degree in Physical Education, Sport and Leisure.As a researcher he was an integrated member of the Education and Community Intervention Research Unit RECI) and the Sport, Health & Exercise Research Unit SHERU). He was part of the editorial board of several impactful journals about physical activity and sport.He also served as scientific coordinator of the training department of the Santarém District Judo Association. Coach of medal-winning athletes in the National Junior Championships and International Championships representing the national Judo team. He was also part of the technical teams of the Portuguese Rugby Federation responsible for the participation of the junior national teams in the Elite European Championship and the World Rugby Junior Trophy.
