RESEARCHERS

Pedro Duarte-Mendes is an Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic University of Castelo Branco IPCB) since 2008, and is dedicated to research and teaching motor behavior with a special focus on physical activity and health. He has a BSc in Physical Education from the IPCB 2003), a degree in Physiotherapy from School of Health Sciences of Alcoitão 2007), a MSc. degree in physical Activity from the IPCB 2013), and a PhD in Sports Sciences from the University of Beira Interior UBI) 2016). He served as the coordinator of a physiotherapy clinic within the health department Unimed Acidentes) and held the position of coordinator for the health department at the sports club Parede Football Clube). Currently, he holds various roles at IPCB: coordinator of the Professional Higher Technical Course in Sport and Technologies, of the Sport and Physical Activity Laboratory, and departmental coordinator of the International Mobility. Pedro collaborates as a teacher in the Portuguese Football Federation’s coaching courses at the Castelo Branco Football Association at the Curricular Units of Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology. He is also Vice-President of the Tennis Association of Castelo Branco of the Portuguese Tennis Federation. His involvement as a researcher and development projects has secured funding 112K) and contributed to scientific publications more than 60 papers indexed on SCOPUS and Web of Science) and received scientific awards. His research focuses on methodological approaches to study motor behavior determinants in training, physical activity, and health. He has disseminated scientific knowledge through oral presentations and conferences at both international and national congresses. From a methodological perspective, he has supervised PhD and MSc. students from various universities and polytechnic institutes.
