RAQUEL ALEXANDRA FERNANDES TEIXEIRA
Born in Guarda, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical and Public Health Analysis in 2013 at the Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias. She later earned a Master’s degree in Food Safety in 2015 from the Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Coimbra. In 2019, she completed a postgraduate qualification in Laboratory Medicine at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon. In 2023, she began a PhD (third-cycle) program in Biochemistry at the Universidade da Beira Interior.
Professionally, she has worked in several institutions since graduating. Between 2015 and 2016, she served as a Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technician (TSDT) at the Public Health Laboratory of ULS Guarda. Since 2023, she has been part of the Clinical Pathology Laboratory team at ULS Cova da Beira as a TSDT.
In academia, she worked as a Guest Assistant Lecturer at the Escola Superior de Saúde Dr. Lopes Dias (2017–2021 and 2025–2026) and at the Instituto Politécnico da Guarda (2022–2023), teaching courses such as Public Health Analysis, Instrumental Methods of Analysis I and II, and Research in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences II. She also supervised undergraduate internships in Clinical and Public Health Analysis and Biomedical Laboratory Sciences.
Additionally, she participated in the “Sopa.come” and “Pão.come” projects (2015–2016), aimed at monitoring salt (NaCl) levels in soups and bread from public canteens and bakeries in the Guarda district to help prevent and control cardiovascular diseases. In 2024, she presented a scientific poster titled “Biomarkers for the Diagnosis of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury” at the Multidisciplinary Emergency Department Conference of ULS Cova da Beira, and delivered a lecture on “The Importance of the Laboratory in the Diagnosis of Pneumonias” during the institution’s technical sessions.
