Researchers from the SPRINT R&D Center awarded at the Portuguese Olympic Committee – REPSOL Sports Science Awards Ceremony
On October 9, the Sports Science–REPSOL Awards Ceremony, promoted by the Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP), took place at the University of Aveiro.
The COP–Repsol Sports Science Awards aim to recognize and reward innovation in addressing issues related to sport science across different fields of study.
SPRINT researchers Luís Paulo Rodrigues, Cristiana Mercê, Pedro Esteves, Vanda Correia, João Serrano, Rui Mendes, and Vânia Loureiro were part of the winning project in the category of Sport Psychology and Pedagogy, entitled “Improving motor competence of children: The ‘Super Quinas’ intervention program in Portuguese primary schools.”
The Super Quinas project aimed to implement a playful program focused on “learning through play,” promoting the development of motor skills, physical activity and happiness among more than 1,600 children from 44 primary schools. The initiative resulted from a collaboration between the Portuguese Football Federation and several higher education institutions.
This award reinforces the excellence of the research conducted by SPRINT’s investigators and highlights its strong potential to create meaningful community impact.
