Our scientific mission is to improve the level of digital maturity of different sports organisations in the sports industry in Portugal. The aim is to raise the Digital Maturity (DM) observed by the degree of adoption and application of digital tools in the activity of organisations (Rossmann, 2018), whether they are sports clubs, gyms or sports federations. This adoption and application involve technological components, human resources and management (Teichert, 2019). Therefore, DM represents a crucial concept for the success of organisations in the digital age, as it refers to the ability of organisations to effectively use digital tools to drive innovation, optimise processes, enhance the customer experience and gain competitive advantage.
Our project assesses the degree to which an organisation is aligned with the demands and opportunities of the digital age (Merzlov & Shilova, 2022). In this way, by assessing the digital maturity of various sports-related organisations in Portugal, it will be possible to identify trends and best practices in the country. This collective analysis will make it possible to identify components in which the sports sector as a whole can improve, and will make it possible to develop collaborative strategies to drive the digital transformation of the entire Portuguese sports industry (Ferreira & Silva, 2024).
