MARCO ANTÓNIO COLAÇO BRANCO
PhD in Human Kinetics, specialisation in Biomechanics, MSc in Fitness & Health, and BSc in Sport, Fitness & Health. Adjunct professor at the Sport Sciences School of Rio Maior ESDRM) – Polytechnic Institute of Santarém IPS), and researcher at Sport Physical Activity and Health Research & Innovation Center SPRINT) in the same institution. He is the Coordinator and professor at the Master Degree in Physical Activity and Health, and teaches also at the Master Degree in Sports Coaching, at the Bachelor Degree in Sport, Fitness & Health ESDRM), and at the Bachelor Degree in Sport Coaching ESDRM) in biomechanics and exercise, motor behaviour, and Sports Coaching of Karate. He is also lecturer of biophysics at the Health Sciences School of Santarém. Marco has been involved in several research projects funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology FCT) and other National and European bodies. The research interests are on biomechanics and motor behaviour of sports and exercise, with focus in the study of human performance, namely for martial arts, and in special populations with or without problems like Alzheimer and Parkinson patients, and pregnant, children and elderly. Marco is an author of scientific papers and technical books in the field of womens health-related physical activity, and contributes as peer-reviewer of several international journals in this field. He began his professional career as fitness and martial arts instructor, working for several years with special and general population, and has being working as an educator of other exercise professionals since 2003.
